As part of AVPN’s Leading from Connection program, the Vuslat Foundation hosted a Generous Listening experience designed for a cohort of social impact leaders across the Global South.
This session invited participants to explore Generous Listening as a leadership practice—not simply hearing, but offering presence without judgment, interruption, or the need to fix. In a world that demands constant action from changemakers, we offered a pause: a moment to reflect, to connect, and to listen deeply.
We began with a guided partner exercise grounded in our Generous Listening Facilitator’s Guide, followed by a moment of individual reflection and group sharing. The experience was designed to shift the focus from performance to presence—reminding us that to listen generously to others, we must also listen to ourselves.
To extend the practice beyond the session, we shared two Listening Practices for the Week:
🌿 Listening to nature: A silent walk to tune into the non-verbal world around us
🗣️ Listening to a person: A heartfelt conversation guided by a simple prompt, held in presence
This experience affirmed once again that Generous Listening is not only a skill—it’s a way of leading, living, and building the conditions for trust and transformation.
We’re grateful to AVPN and the incredible cohort of leaders who joined us in this moment of pause and presence.
